Want to fix up this table - any ideas what it is?

It is probably from the 50's or the 60's. It originally belonged to my grandmother, then was passed down to my mother, then my father left it outside in the elements for awhile so it's in pretty rough shape. Most of it is salvageable but a couple of the legs are starting to "split" open in a few little places. I'd sand down the chrome and repaint it, but I'm not sure if it is possible to fix those splits.

My mom told me I could just find new legs to purchase online but I'm finding that a lot of "retro" tables look totally different and have totally different leg styles. I wouldn't mind, except that due to the way the legs attach to the table I can't really put different legs on without it looking silly. I've had a terrible time even finding a table that LOOKS like this, let alone replacement legs for it.

So, any ideas? Any places I should be looking/keywords I should be using? Alternatively, if there is a way to fix cracked/split legs I'm all ears!

    Thanks!

    Welcome! :)
If you can afford it you can get all of the parts rechromed as long as they are in good condition.
If they are cracked you will have to have them repaired first.
Some chrome shops do repairs too.

That might take unlimited (sort of) resources!!! Best of luck with it!!!! I assume you're planning on keeping it and the chairs with it?? At least in the end, it could look very nice!!!;););)

Thanks! The top actually isn't in terrible shape - the blue is the original surface, the peeling yellowish stuff is laminate my grandmother put on to match their kitchen counters :) I'm hoping I can sand down the rest of the metal and I think as long as the cracks aren't terrible I've found a way to fix those too.

I'm trying to update it a bit...hoping to spray paint the metal areas gold and put white penny tile on the top. The chairs are, thankfully, in GREAT condition - metal and all - so I am just going to recover the fabric, spray paint the metal and call it a day.

EDIT: Yes, I'm planning to keep :) I intend to use it as a dining room table when I move into my apartment this January!

It looks like 'Howell' is the maker of your Gram's table. They came in a wide range of color combos.
Here are some pics of what they look like in better, original condition if you want some guide lines.

That could look pretty nice by the time you're through. I agree with the auto body guys; they can work wonders if you're willing to pay for it.
