I hope to one day assemble one of the better collections in Ohio which is a very daunting task and will take many decades to accomplish. Postcards currently have displaced some of my other hobbies for now and I've gone fairly far down the rabbit hole in collecting over the past few months.

The Ideal scales likely made by Krups, the ceramic dish made by Villeroy and Boch mark indicates 1918-35. Couldn’t leave the ceramics at the rummage either even though the Doulton bikkie barrel has lost its lid. Each item was less than dollar equivalent.

 

Bits from c shops and rummage. The goldtone earrings are German, Friedrich Spiedel, the silver chain blue pendant is glass, the big necklace was a rummage grab in the hope it was bakelite but it isn’t. I liked the red glass drop earrings and the silver ones are nice and sparkly as is the heart pendant with CZs. Not sure of the age of the ceramic pendant.

 

Are monkey carvings like this one worth anything ?, there's on at the thrift store for $100 it's about 18 in. high and 12 in. across and made of wood ,has some age cracking .

 

so after sleeping on it i went down this morning and purchased it , it's 24" x 18"

The faces are really full of expression, it’s lovely. I tried woodcarving once, never again, it’s a lot more difficult than sculpting in clay.

 

I have a necklace that looks just like them. I always thought they were glass...would love it if they were 'moonstone'. There is no evidence that they were ever coated. They are all about the same size... 1/2"(?)... I haven't looked at them in a while...

It went out this morning to line up to get a number at an estate sale ... the numbers went out at 8AM. I'm dead. There was "only a little jewelry". True, but I scored two Native American signed and searchable belt buckles for $5 each! They weren't with the jewelry. In that same closet was a crocodile handbag and another one I have to look up. Those were $15 each. The bitty slide rule doesn't want to slide (sigh) but it looks like the one my dad used to carry in his pocket all the time. I almost bought two Trifari pins, little guys of no great hoo-ha, but a lady came in as I was about ready to check out. She loved the one little pin that looked kind of like a scarab and I let her buy it instead. (it's not like I need it!) I came home with the peacock. There's a beat-up baby rattle in sterling and some Saab pins too. The pins will be NFS; they're going to a friend.

If you're wondering the Navajo buckle is Ernest Bilagody and the Zuni one is Sharold Nutumya.

And that purse! Looks like belly hide---sooooo sweet! I'm jealous...........

 

@evelyb30, did you try a bit of WD-40 on that slide rule?? Might just do it!!

 

Had an alligator purse when I was young....Mom got it for me....guess they were the rage, but I never liked the young head on the side that opened... guess I was young enough to feel bad for it losing it's life for a purse.....OTOH, still have a letter opener!! Don't know what the eyes are made of.....NOT glass.....

 

If you get the slide rule 'out' a bit of ivory bar soap scraped on the edge will help keep it moving.

I don't want to mess with it if I'm going to sell it. OTOH it might be here for eternity. I collect slide rule jewelry too when I find some.
