    Hello,

I just joined this site this past week. I posted and had wonderful results. Folks here are absolutely priceless in their knowledge and generosity. So, I thought I would try something else. This post is to help me get an idea of the "Value of Kittinger Office Furniture." And, to get some guidance on dating the pieces.

The office does have some more modern pieces mixed in to make the space function with my older KITTINGER DESK and CREDENZA. They aren't a perfect match, but they fit my need. I picked the KITTINGER pieces up free 25 years ago from someone who moved and had no room. That party tried to refinish them, but that was ok with me. I just took them as I found them. And, the space has worked extremely well for me.

Now, that I am thinking about going on the road, I have to sell, sell, sell. So, this room of furniture has to go up for sale. What I would like to know is the VALUE. I know the add on modern day pieces have little value. But, what about the KITTINGER DESK and CREDENZA. The gentleman who gave the pieces to me said they were old, but I don't know for sure.

Let me know what you think about the age and value if you would like to help. Oh, and if you can identify the wood, that would be wonderful as well.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Good morning, Mike. Which piece are you calling the Credenza?

Your desk and credenza looks to be walnut and I would guess post-60s. Kittinger is very good quality and expensive when new. That said, I don't think most will pay much of a premium for it used. Office furniture is always a hard sale and size limits the buyers further. I was able to find what looks to be your desk. Sold for $180.00 and had been passed over at two previous sales.

I assume the side desk and hutches are the add-ons? If so, they are attractive additions and I might try to sell everything as a package and/or as individuals but include the hutch with the credenza.

I did find some similar Kittinger desks that fared a bit better than the $180.00 but no other exactly as yours. Value is regional, situational, and very much depends on selling venue.

Nice stuff , but like Brad said , hard sell unless someones looking for that specifically . Here in my city theres a reseller for office stuff and their prices are VERY low . Now about those silver (?) desk accessories ! :)

It may come down to where you are located. I sold two Kittinger Office Chairs for $1800 on Craigslist. The chairs were $3700 each when new. I'm just outside of Boston and there are a lot of law firms, insurance companies and consulting firms that go for that older, stately, classic look and Kittinger is a well known and sought after brand.

    Love your paintings.
Are you in one of the big cities with a high end Auction.

I don't know what others think, but would it be wise to have someone come and look at auctioning some of the better items, before trying Craigslist?

    Hi,

I am calling the bottom piece to the left of the desk the CREDENZA.

    Thanks for asking.

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for the research. The desk you found looks very similar. Well, if I don't get much and need to start an office over, at least it won't cost much buying used! SMILES.

And, yes, the Side Desk and Hutches are add-ons. Thanks for the compliment. My wife is good at making a space look pretty good even in our three room townhouse. She found them and surprised me.

Anyway, I was thinking of selling it all as an office suite. That would be the DESK, CREDENZA, SIDE DESK, TWO HUTCHES, the BOOK SHELVES and there are also four matching wood FILING CABINETS hidden in the closet straight in front of the desk. So, you idea sounds right to me.

So, THANK YOU again for the help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks. I wasn't expecting it to have an upper shelf unit. Carry on!

    Hello johnnycb09,

Nice to hear from you and THANK YOU for the compliments. I think the best way to sell this is as a suite. Just hoping I do reasonable on it. I will just have to see.

As for the silver desk pieces... GRIN... that's my wife! We share the office and she said she would take care of getting it right. I think she did a nice job. Maybe more on this later...

    Hello Mill Cove,

Thank you for stopping in to help. I am actually on CAPE COD. So, I thought that I just might be ok listing this on Craigslist. I am hoping someone here, Boston or Providence might be interested. We love the older, stately, classic look as you mention and know there are other folks out there that do as well.

Anyway, we were going to offer our Townhouse furnished, with this room of furniture, plus the furniture in the bedroom post and the living room, which I added below. But, it would have to be a very particular Buyer. Being a Townhouse, most folks are looking for a Summer place. Though I guess it would not be impossible to find a Professional that needs a get away with an office on a golf course!

    Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by. Also, THANKS for your comments and interest. Your mini pics made me smile and think of WHERE'S WALDO books! If you look close, there are two more Cloisonne pieces in the room. Look in the bookshelf beyond the vase for a GREEN piece. And look on the top of the bookshelf next to the closet for another more TURQUOISE (did I spell that correctly) piece.

As for the HORSE, it is my PROSPERITY HORSE; perfect spot. And, there is another golden horse on the Hutch over the CREDENZA. The second house is in water to improve flow and take courage.

As for the silver desk pieces... SMILES... that's my wife! We share the office and she said she would take care of getting it right. I think she did a nice job. Maybe more on this later...

For now... this is all my wife. I say I need this and she makes it comfortable. We had a 22 room home and downsized to this tiny place. Still, it feels very comfortable. We have sold a lot of GOOD stuff, but our space remains welcoming.

Oh, I also want to say that your idea for auctioning some of the better pieces is great. I don't have much left but, there are silver pieces and collections, about 30 Cloisonne, other Asian pieces including about 11 horses, a large altar YAMANTIKA, some old Chinese porcelain horses, a few of the very first editions of Disney wood-like Pop-Up books with the old Mickey Mouse, some other old Hindu and Tibetan pieces, Stamps & Coins (but not sure on these), some original film reels including Eleonora Duce's only film with tour reels as a bonus, a Marilyn Monroe USO Photograph Album WITH all the negatives, a small collection I stumbled upon of Holocaust related items; photographs, ledgers, books, personal affects, letters, id cards, coins and paper money of that time and clothing and a 1955 Austin Taxi. That's it really. Everything else is gone! While I know this isn't much, I hope a few things in this last bit of boxes have some value to someone.

    Anyway, thanks for your interest.

    Mike

    Hi,

The Hutch on top is an add-on other make and model.
