Ironically, the matching coffee table was in the store by another dealer earlier this Summer. It sat at $85.00 with no takers for quite awhile and had to be marked half price to sell at $42.50 at the end of June. I almost bought it then but didn't want to mess with it if they couldn't sell it. Consequently, I fretted about buying these tables as I wasn't sure there was profit in them locally and I didn't want to ship them. I went ahead and bought them, priced them at $180.00 for the pair (cheap!), and they sold in a few days. Go figure? :wacky: Maybe the person who bought the coffee table also bought these.

I wrote about the coffee table in the brown furniture thread when it got marked down. These are high priced elsewhere but you never know about our market here.

On the coasts, especially in California, that would be big money. MCM does OK but not great here. Right where I am, high gloss black lacquer tends to move quickly, but that's a very local market.

Picked these two vases up yesterday to add to my colored glass collection , wich brings up a point Ive been pondering for a while . I love antiques , but I seem more and more to be drawn to later stuff , and Ive been worried that Im not fitting into the tone of this board as much anymore . Ive bought stuff on and along , but I dont post as much because its a lot of 60s and 70s and I was worried you all werent as interested . Maybe we could add a category for that style ? Would that be something anyone else would be interested in ? These are waterford marquis , arent they dreamy ? :)

They're "of the period" and there are a lot of us who like glass, old and new. This is my only find of the day. It's acrylic or lucite instead of glass, but the rainbow/spectrum lines are translucent. The black part is opaque.

    Johnny,

80% of the Art Glass we own is 1960 - 1970

It still makes for a nice collection :)

I'll admit I hadn't either! I just spotted the signature and took a punt. Then found out what they sell for. ;)

The teaset or the ladle? The latter is mid 19th C and was a decent bargain. The teaset a mere ten dollars. ;)
