David Coolidge Colonial Williamsburg Watercolor Location

There are some writings on the back but I can't make them. Don't know if they are about the exact location.

I still can't figure out what the third word is.

 

The third word I would guess is parliament. Try Williamsburg porvells parliament

 

Williamsburg Powell's Tenement I believe.

 

POWELL’S TENEMENT KITCHEN, 108 N. Waller St. Detached kitchens were placed in this relationship to dwelling houses throughout 18th century Williamsburg. It sits on a lot bought by John Redwood in 1707, which was sold,along with the Blue Bell Tavern lot, to Col. Philip Ludwell in 1708. Ludwell rented the dwelling house and outhouses here to tenants until 1832. Little is known about them except that in 1770, Peter Powell, a wheelwright and riding chair maker, lived here. The kitchen was presumably demolished around 1855 when John Mercer erected new buildings.

Very interesting. I live in Virginia but not as close to Williamsburg as I'd like to be. It's a fun place and one of my favorite museums, DeWitt Wallace, is there.

I know paint color research is a very serious thing and one of the places I've volunteered has also changed their color in a noticeable way. Mount Vernon (George Washington's home) is no longer white. It is still a light color but not white.

My wife's uncle is a Williamsburg nut. When they changed the colors a few years back I thought he would have a stroke. research does do crazy things to people. Look that the uproar over the Sistine Chapel ceiling since it was cleaned!!!!!
