Thrift Store Score...I was totally enthralled with this terracotta bust I found at the thrift store. I went home and scoured through the internet to find it. NOTHING. All my searching and I came up with the fact that Giuseppe did a couple of pieces in clay, but I could only find one other and it was made at a function where people took pictures of him making it...PROOF!
I am totally convinced this is a real Armani, but would LOVE it if someone could help me locate it, another one, the original one, a story about it...anything! :)

I say them too. I am also confused. Perhaps @flipper can explain. Is it the material?

The clay figurines and busts are quite common.
These two were my mothers, purchased about 40 years ago.

It isn't THE Armani. These were a range of mass produced giftwares and planters sold widely in the 80s, using a similar name.

I agree, these were mass produced. But you would like to know a story about it. He looks a bit Paganini inspired, but is clearly not Paganini. Different hair, and no violin.

Maybe you could ask Capodimonte, they manufactured a lot of his figurines. Or else here:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This website might be a little suspect since they don't say who is behind it. But there is a long list of items and maybe you can find if yours was reproduced. It also gives biographical info about Giuseppe Armani. https://giuseppearmani.org/

That is the one I was referring to, yes. The Armani store in Italy uses the same bases, nameplates, etc, etc. I realize he did a different type of figure during his earlier years...like "Hummel-ish", but he is known for his tall glamorous women statues, mostly in resin? As well as, porcelain. I have compared this to many of his works and I believe it is indeed THAT Armani.

Are you talking about Giuseppe Armani, the sculptor, only. I really don't understand. When I think of THAT Armani, I think of the fashion designer.

No, the sculptor only...not Armani the fashion designer! I would have used far different examples of his work.:p

I wasn't clear from your original post, what you found exceptional about your discovery. From what I gather, you are talking about a unique item made from clay, right?

I just wanted help to find out something about this piece. I love that fact that it is truly unique and I "found" it...I just wish there was some documentation or PROOF that I had to go with it. I guess I wanted someone to be excited, too.:shy:
