Hi Fig,
Every piece of clothing goes in the wash before I can wear it. I have friends that buy a shirt, take the pins out and wear it. I can't, I have such a sensitive body . Some things even need a second wash, otherwise I break out in blotch's and itch to the extreme.

Sizing can do nasty things. I generally wash first too, especially when you don't know where it's been. With any luck it shrinks a bit in the dryer?

 

No dryer if the print is vintage!

 

I don't think it was all that old; the tag in the back makes me think 90s if not later. I wouldn't put a 70s shirt in the dryer either.

 

I don't put any of my shirts, T or Hawaiian, in the dryer.

 

The combination of cotton and polyester in the composition of the shirt led me to think that, too. And the tag includes the name NuBlend. I found a history of the Russell company that says that name for the fabric was introduced in 1992. So theoretically it could be over 20 years old, and possibly newer. But not from the era when Harry Chapin was alive.
