This 13.4 inch diameter charger was catalogued as a Chinese blue and white charger

I'd be interested in your views.

The problem with this type and age of soft based porcelain is that it is difficult to tell where it was made. Delft could be Dutch or English and much of it had no marks, often even the real Chinese ones. The link above shows a Delft plate. Of course there are zillions to look at. French faience is a buff colour where it has chipped but this looks much more reddish. The glaze seems quite thick. It could easily be a Chinese import from the 19th century. Hopefully there will be someone on the forums with more knowledge.

Tin-glazed English delft 18th C I think. Let me pull out some books and see if I can find more for you.

    For sure not Chinese.
By the way, Chinese did make soft past porcelain.

Yes, my feel is that this is tin glazed earthenware, prob English and 19th century BUT I have not had a piece like this before and my knowledge is limited hence my call for help. And given that it was in a lot, not hidden, that was bought for just £5, I was reluctant to assume we had spotted a piece missed by other dealers.

I can't offer much more other than the opinion I put out there. So often you can find an exact match to a pattern but the books I pulled out didn't have this exact thing. The way the leaves are done on the trees and plants can often point to a locale. Usually old Dutch Delft doesn't crack/craze while British can.

Here is a piece with a similar border.

And here is one that has similar elements such as the pillar like center pattern while also being different in many ways.
