Today's jewelry Broken Ring, Rolex?, iddy biddy pearls . . .

1) Coventry ring. Looks like dumpster bound but am wondering if that's a garnet stone wort removing from the setting.


2) Watch marked Rolex. Guessing not authentic but want to know what you all think!

Tiny pearl strand. Did the bite test suggested on here yesterday and they're gritty. Looks like freshwater.

 

single pearl clip on earring. Pearls also seemed to pass bite test--rinsed my mouth out with Scope quickly given the look of that piece! Pearls worth keeping?

 

They are, freshwater cultured. They are pretty, but not worth much nowadays.

uhmmm, you probably felt the edges of the flaked parts. They are costume, and flaking. It is a very nice costume earring, but sadly missing its mate.

I can see it's not a 'real' Rolex, the small pearls are freshwater as are the pearls on what appears to be a single gold tone earring. Might be an older garnet in the (c)Coventry ring.

 

Sara Coventry jewelry has a following...just an FYI Most likely glass. The fresh water pearls are just that. The single earring like all have said are fake and peeling pearls. The rolex...to me...is very poor quality, so I am taking a stab...lol...and saying it is a fake.

 

I collect up bits of sarah Coventry, Monet, trifari etc and sell them as a job lot. Even with single earrings in it they sell well enough to bother.

 

As already stated, the watch is definitely fake. For starters, there are very few Rolex quartz watches (and most were oyster quartz although they did make a quartz dress watch). They only made quartz watches for about 30 years.The second hand is incorrect but most important is that Rolex never made gold tone watches so the finish is the immediate tell.

 

Thanks all. One final question for this lot: Does $15-30 sound right for the strand of tiny cultured fresh water pearls?

Dude, they sell those tiny freshwater pearl strands out of China for as low as $1 to $5 for an 18" strand.

These days Chinese freshwaters like those aren't worth much for resale. Those are what's known in the trade as "rice pearls", and these days they aren't popular. They often go for less than glass beads. I have hunch you don't know how to measure necklaces. If you say 12 inches, I'm guessing you measured it while the clasp is closed and actually measured only half of it. It has to be unclasped to actually find out how long it is; you have to measure the whole thing.
