Painting signed Robert Owen

    Found in San Diego, Ca. Signed Robert Owen, but as far as I can tell this is not the Owen that does clown paintings. This is an oil on canvas. The subject reminds me much of Les Miserables, as it appears to be a thief caught stealing the silver. It measures 28 1/2" by 35". Back is covered with paper. I have found three artists with the name of Robert Owen, none seem to match as far as I can tell. Thank you for looking. owen.jpg

    still googling and searching for info on this piece, even a comment on the subject matter could help me. Any thoughts whatsoever?? :banghead:

    Owen is a Welsh name, isn't it? Could be European even if found in Calif.
    Which mythological creatures steal silver or household goods? Imps? Fairies? Leprechauns???

    I keep coming back to look again because the faces look very familiar. Have you considered "illustration art?"

    I have considered that and googled it also. There sure is a lot to look at out there on the WWW!
