Victorian Bed

Does anybody know anything about the bed in the attached photo. Sorry it is a bad picture. The headboard is laying on its side and the footboard is in front of it. I am assuming that it is genuinely Victorian because of the assembly hardware and the quality of the piece. If anybody has any additional information, or an estimate of what it's worth, I would appreciate your thoughts.

 

Its hard to tell from the pic , but it looks like Eastlake style . Its been my experience that antique beds are hard to buy mattresses for , as the sizes were different than modern beds . A lot of times they will only take a full size mattress , or you have to get a custom one ( wich isnt too bad now with the foam mattresses ) and most folks dont want the hassle of that . Here in n. fla you might get $200-300 .

 

I was thinking eastlake as well. It fits a full size mattress perfectly. Thank you.

 

Eastlake doesn't do too well here, but I like it. Odds are better for something like this down in Texas or Georgia. Price depends a lot on location.

As above, Eastlake. Walnut with burl accents. Circa 1880. Values are down. Here in the Midwest at retail, about the same as in Florida. Quite a bit less at auction or other wholesale venues. You might do better in big cities or other locations. Really is dependent on your market and selling venue.
