Hi I've recently acquired an 1801 John Broadwood square piano table (in fantastic condition) without the piano and I am trying to find out what wood it is made from and what sort of value it would be, if any. All help will be greatly appreciated :) IMG-20160730-WA0002.jpg IMG-20160730-WA0001.jpg

say_it_slowly The worst prison is a closed heart

Can't see all the types of wood used but the second photo may be satinwood.

Looks like mahogany with satinwood to me. The mahogany is a bit light but that may be due to refinishing and/or the photography. The strip above and below the label in your second pic looks more like what the color should be.

Value is as a usable curiosity since the piano has been stripped out. It also depends on your location and venue. I could see this for sale for $750.00 or more in a big city antique shop. In a rural country auction, you might be lucky to get $150.00. Would think a realistic selling value for most places is somewhere between the two.

Not terribly similar but this square grand converted for desk/table use sold for $250.00 at Burchard Galleries.

Here is the other side of the coin at a high end Dallas shop ........ $5550.00. Seems rather ambitious to me.

Remember, anyone can ask what they want and think that their market will bear. This dealer may be able to get this from his/her clientele but it hasn't sold yet. The two above actually sold via respected auction venues.
