Hey, recently acquired this great piece. What I am trying to decide is whether or not I should restore it (as it’s in need of some TLC) or sell it as it is, because I was attracted to it in this condition as I think it adds to the character. The all important question is what would be the difference in value and also would anyone happen to know an estimate of the value, or a fair asking price should I send it to auction?

    dimensions: approx 20”x 13”

    Many thanks

They are modern items of little resale value.
I have the same pair at my lock-up including a car and a traffic cop.

Yes I undertand it’s not worth a great deal I paid £12 for it which is why I just wondered whether it would be worth repairing it and giving it a nice coat of fresh paint. I notice that they sell for anything between £25 and £80 historically at auction

If you can get that amount for them then go ahead.

I've put mine in the charity pile, which needs collecting soon.

Oh okay your not fond of it then? I think it’s a great piece with lots of character. in fact I think i will sit it in my garden in amongst the gnomes in its current condition.... Thanks for your comments

Its not a case of not being fond of them, its just that there are thousands around and they are not antique.

While there are definitely a lot of L&H merchandise out there, your particular piece does not seem to be overly abundant. I looked at two different auction sites where the piece sold for $133 and $195, respectively.
Personally, I like them and I would touch them up, whether I chose to sell them, or not. If they deteriorate further, the garden is a good option. ;)

Even if they're new and relatively common, I like them. I could see them sitting in a garden, or in an entry way as a cheery greeting. :)

Is it resin? Just wondering how such a thing gets so much damage and why it would bring $195, even pristine.

If you are going to keep them you could touch them up if you wish. If selling I would leave them in their current condition. If anything goes wrong with the touch- ups it could lower the value. Getting an exact paint match would be difficult. They look like chalkware to me.
