Found this in the Habitat Store yesterday and had to buy it. :)
Very heavy solid brass and just under 1/8" thick.
    8- 1/2" wide.
    5- 1/8" tall.
    No markings.

IMG_0030.jpg I just bought this Victorian Terrarium today, Its seen better days, the original glass has long ago been broken and replaced on the sides with plastic.
It was cheap and I couldn't resist it, I want to either fit new plastic in the sides and domed top or completely re-purpose it by adding victorian fabric and tassels (maybe like a little theatre) and turning it into a display stand for one or two of my victorian sewing boxes

    What do you all think?

My personal opinion: restore to its original glory.

    Nice.
I would use the plastic as a template and get some new glass cut, its quite cheap nowadays.
Ideal for growing cress and home salad

The trouble with glass is the dome at the top, theres no way to bend glass.

Makes me wonder how the victorians did it.

It has another problem in that the base is extremely rusty so it needs treating gently.

Can be done in an oven with a form. It's called 'slumping' I think.
I bet you could find something already made online.

Or you could just bend and glue or screw a piece of thin Plexiglas (colored if desired ) over it ,and i wouldn't place it directly on that beautiful carpet if it is rusty .

Same is done with acrylics. A plastic shop in your city may have something right on the shelf or can get it.

Yeah - get the camera out of the way.(LOL) Found this in the local Ill Will for $5. It tests like 14k but doesn't have one single mark. Bought it with a few pieces of what immediately became scrap silver .. or at least scrapped silver. The silver paid for everything including the gas. DSCF2308.JPG
