I found this catalog with my mother's books. I was going to sell it, than thought I'd keep it as a reference.

What's interesting is I saw a catalog from another store from the same time period, that looked like it had at least one page that was exactly the same as a page in my catalog. Made me think that distributors maybe published the pages and then stores added their own individual info?

Oh, okay, I thought that looked like a cigar box. Didn't know cigars were ever called "jewels"!

What's a tractograph?

If I remember correctly, the catalog has at least a couple hundred pages, filled with all sorts of items.

 

Its for draftsmen,engineers,etc. A measuring device.

Here's a bottle I found with my mom's things. The company adopted the name "Virginia Dare Extract Company" in the 1920s, but I don't know when they used this label.

Although I didn't see this bottle on eBay, the other Virginia Dare items I saw either didn't sell or went for very little. Is it likely my bottle, too, wouldn't be worth anything?

Isn't it interesting? From what wikipedia said, there's now a DNA project going on as the latest attempt to figure out what happened to the "lost colony."

Yes.really. I wondered about that but they really are rubber. White rubber.

I have mostly seen them on on old underwear - the kinds with all the buttons.

 

I haven't shopped in the past few weeks as I knew that this month I would be out a fair amount (the last week of the month is pure shopping - I am counting the days).

I found a new TS yesterday (two different actually), close to my fave one (where the bakelite gator pin came from). It is hidden from the road and huge. So much so that many folks don't know it is there, but the donations are massive because of the cause. For one entire hour, I was the only customer there until they closed. I have never been the only customer in a thrift store that size before. Fun. Between the two stores, I came home with one box and 7 bags worth. Whoops. It happened again. But it was about $50.00 for all, so that was not bad.

I saw this and took a chance on it. I've been researching items outside of my traditional comfort zone and I'm glad I bought it. There seems to be quite a following for the vintage gold phones. It hasn't been cleaned yet, sorry.



Since folks like to learn from this topic as well. Not everyone knows these are collectible again. The vanity trays our moms, grandmothers and some folks today still use - my mom purposely had two.

It really depends on the border and inside. The gold paper design has some light damage in spots, but is unusual to find. Because of it, and the rose theme throughout, it is a def $30 - 35.00 sale.



Love these Vernonware Mixing Bowls - $3.00 for both. Great condition.



The Poppytrail Chop Plate was $2.00, also in GC:



This small creamer piece was mixed in with some Fire King, but is not. I would think it is some type of Elegant or Antique glass. It is a white/milk glass, with a flared (?) design coming up from the base on all four sides - you can just make it out in the front. It was .50.:



I think I might have some unique older Asian item, but am not sure. Either that, or a really heavy brass Ping-Pong paddle. The only markings I think are the writing on the front:

WOW, nice haul Funky...you know Vernon Kilns is no more and items are collectable. I have a couple of vintage trays left but mirrored, I love the rose one you have,and that ping-pong,LOL,whatchmacallit? I like it

 

If the other side of the ping pong paddle is blank, it may be a Chinese bronze mirror. No glass, polished metal.

 

I also collect dolls.LOL The big ones are packed away.

 

Thank you, afantiques! The bronze piece is indeed that - blank, polished (well, in its original patina) bronze. It it is clear that no mirror or anything was meant to be placed on the other side. I've taken the computer to a different location for the evening and will post a picture tomorrow in the daylight.

 

My most practical find was this 54-piece set of Corelle circa early 70s. Blue snowflake pattern, all for just $6!!!
