Need info on a "unique" piece

Can anuone give me info on this piece? I inherited it and don't know much about it other than it is different. Thanks so much

 

1940s-50s mahogany veneer credenza or console. Style is meant to go with the Duncan Phyfe type furniture popular during the era and was probably part of a line of such furniture.

 

Wow! I've got one in my garage identical. Waiting for me to get around to doing something with it. Has a lot of areas where the veneer has popped up. I've been wondering just exactly what it was used for. Style alone really limits the storage capacity which, in my opinion, makes it more of a decorative rather than functional piece.

 

Really just an occasional piece for in a hallway or any where adjacent to an aisle where space is at a premium. Every house seems to have some kind of awkward space that a large piece won't fit.

 

That makes sense because I also inherited a Duncan Phyfe 10 pc dining room set. All of it is in great condition so I'm excited. How much is this piece worth? Just for my own curiosity

 

Not much interest in this furniture with the mahogany finish. Here in my semi-rural Midwest location, somewhere under $100.00 and it would probably sit awhile. You might do better with it in other locations. Used to be that this stuff sold well in the South. Not sure if this is still the case. Unfortunately, this would sell better most places painted these days. I wouldn't advocate painting a piece in good condition but it is just the kind of thing I pick up damaged and paint all the time.
