Insight into a love seat with matching rocker?

I just picked up this love seat and rocker from a garage sale I stopped by on the way home. Can anyone give me any insight into the age, style, and if they're worth anything? I unfortunately have no knowledge on furniture, so this one was kind of a gamble! Thanks for your time.

I know very little about furniture, but we have some real experts here; they'll be along.
Is that a Corgi puppy in your avatar? Cute!

Lovely stuff ! Im wondering if its european ? since its slightly art nouveau Im thinking 1900 , give or take a decade . MUCH nicer than most of these I see , that carving is heaven ! I see the " green man " on the couch !

Circa 1890 Victorian settee and platform rocker. Do look like they might be English and, yes, some Art Nouveau influence. Wood looks like it could be beech with a red stain to mimic mahogany. Nicer than much of what we see of this type but still not too much value since currently out of fashion. Value really will depend on location. Here in semi-Podunk Midwest, maybe around $350.00 maximum retail for the pair if you can find a buyer (With wood finish restored and upholstery cleaned). At auction, one third to one half that. You might do better (or worse) in other locations.

Thanks for all the replies! Now I have to see if I'm up to the task of refinishing and upholstering . Is there any books you suggest verybrad for someone who wants to dabble into furniture?

Have done this so long myself that haven't looked at any books for years. I am sure there are some out there. You might look at your local library.

I think these could be touched up without complete refinishing. The upholstery, while not original, looks to be well done and in pretty good shape but needs cleaning. If not to your taste, that is a different issue.
