Rob, what do you think you see on the back of the serving plate?

I think maybe I am seeing "Gorham"??? and "Silver"??? and maybe "New???" something or other.

Looks like New Gorham silverplate to me, but you would probably be a better judge of that. It's difficult to tell from the photo. It would also be good to add photos of the actual plate, and not just the markings.

Ok Here is a page showing your mark. Scroll about 1/2 way down to see it. I don't know if I am reading it right....but it is saying early 1800;s, ( I must add that I don't believe it can be that old)wait until somebody more knowledgeable comes by .Silver isn't my thing! :meh:

    Rob, welcome to the forum!

This tray carries the Newport brand name that Gorham Silver used in the 1960s and 1970s. There was not a pattern name, only a pattern number, YB 650.

Bdig..., the dates of the early 1800s were when Gorham was founded, not for the marks pictured.

Does anyone know if it has any value. I believe it's silver plated. What is it made of

Probably brass, or copper if you're lucky. Value is whatever you can convince someone to give you for it. In my neck of the woods, the plated ones max out at about $20.

Without knowing specifics about the tray like size and shape,
knowing your location like in the US, Great Britain, etc...; or seeing a pic of the whole tray to determine its condition; it is impossible to guess at a value range for it. It could sell for as low as $8.00 to possible a $100.00 or so. Then again it could just sit there and never get a bid. We don't make a habit of evaluating something because prices vary tremendously from say the mid-west to cosmopolitan areas such as NYC, Atlanta, LA, etc... Following is a link to competed (ended) auction of some Gorham Newport trays, some sold and some never got a bid.
