L. Basile Painting

Does anyone know of any information on this painting or how much it might be worth??? I got this from my uncle when he passed away a few years ago and he always told me to hold onto it because it could help me out one day if i ever had to sell it. Any info i could find out about it would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

 

Welcome, Nick. You should start a thread about your painting in the Art Forum. Many members do not come to this Introduction section looking for questions and mysteries to solve. You will get more eyes on your painting that way.

 

Bears a resemblance to Sofia Loren.

There was a Leon Basile Perrault, but he died (1908) long before this was painted. Looks like 1950s-'60s. I wonder if your uncle had the older painter in mind.

Yours does appear to be a post-World War II bombshell painting. L. Basile likely a factory name. I would think value decorative. Let's see what others say.

I think decorative value too, Debora, thanks. Would fit right into a 1970s red shag carpeted living room, with italian vases and a bull fighter painting on the other side!
