Does anyone have info on either of these two items and possible value. I bought at an estate sale. Thanks

Chest is circa 1870 and walnut. I doubt the brass hardware is original. It would have had pulls like you see on the top drawers. Parlor table is from about the same era or just a tad newer and also appears to be walnut.

And you're correct about the brass handles. There is a hole in the center where other handles were previously.
I normally refinish antiques and keep, but I'm out of room so will be selling. Any idea where to find approximate values? Thanks.

Really depends on your location and selling venue. Here in my semi-rural Midwest retail location, that chest would be somewhere under $150.00. That table would be under $75.00. This assumes them being cleaned up a bit and more presentable than they are now. The top on that table looks pretty damaged so I don't know how much better you can get it to look. This will affect value.

I'm in south Georgia and based on shopping local antique shops, the table would go for $125-175 and the chest $225-325. I have seen a table that is almost duplicate online for $450+.
I can refinish and the top of table will not show any defects as it does now. I was just wanting a little more info such as maker, etc. Thanks

Admit that our values here are low. More power to you if you can get those kinds of prices there. I always take on-line asking prices with a grain of salt. Much of them seem to be hoping, waiting, fishing prices. I am sure that some of the sellers get those prices but think that most do not. Dealers in large metro areas with the right clientele can get prices that most of us can only dream of. It is always best to know your own particular market and tailor your business model to it.

True to all of that. A few hours north of my location I could probably get a good bit more. I mostly enjoy the buying and seeing what I can make of the piece. As long as I cover my expenses I'm good. Thanks for your input.

    Kathy,

Brad's valuation sounds very reasonable in my opinion. Of course the market for antique furniture here in suburban Ohio is very weak with a lot more supply than demand which pushes down price. The antique shops/malls I frequent may have their furniture priced a little ambitiously (with some wiggle room built in) but that doesn't mean they are getting that high retail asking price in the end.

Everything but the House (EBTH) is a nationwide online estate sale auction site that sells a lot of furniture. You might want to check the realized prices on there and see if there is any comparable listings.

Thanks I will check that. For some reason in south/central Georgia antiques and vintage furniture is on fire, a lot of it that has been chalked painted. And they sell it at that price too. I can't bring myself self to paint antiques though.
