I went hunting this morning. I can't say I did that much finding per se. Got some stuff but nothing spectacular.

I found several things (a few books mostly for DH) but my prize today was . . .

An old(er) (probably 1910s to 1920s) print framed in a lovely old carved wooden frame with gilding 9-1/4" wide by 10-1/4" high.

The "thoughts" printed in white in an attractive (readable yet feminine) font on the pleasing, somewhat unusual, figured (grape vines, grape leaves, and grape bunches) background paper are the primary reason I bought it.

"The Beauty of the house is Order
The Blessing of the house is Contentment
The Glory of the house is Hospitality"

I'd love to see a picture of that print.

Terry, nice haul. I go nuts trying to ID silverware patterns, that is my sister's area of expertise, or used to be.

Marko, you are so sweet to be interested. I'll take photos of it and try to get them posted before the day (or evening) is out. ;)

A bit more information on the framed print before I attempt to load the photos.
On the backing of the framed print is written in faint ink, cursive handwriting: "Xmas from Helen and Arthur Humphries Rock Hill S.C." (No date anywhere)

Very Art Nouveau into Craftsman Era. Those grape vines with that lettering were a big decorating motif in the 1890s well into the teens. As for the earrings, they're too contemporary for me to know whodunnit. The beads look like opalite/sea opal glass, especially in the first shot. Someone in the Jewelry group on Ebay might know who made them.

    Thanks, evelyb. Yup, opalite....

Well, I went to a rained-out outdoor church jewelry sale late by our standards, 10 a.m., and nothing to write home about, but did find this pot metal jabot, I love the green glass stone, which spins in the setting, end screws on

We had a terrible heat wave the last four days, so I think people didn't go out here or were on the beaches.... good pickin' time for me....

I hope you don't mind me posting.... I do so when I get the chance. I have been visiting my 90 year-old uncle almost daily and taking care of his affairs, so photographing and posting helps me unwind and I enjoy being part of this forum so much. I am posting a silly little pair of earrings from a thrift shop, last one, I love ballerina jewelry (probably because my mother gave me a choice of taking tap dancing or ballet, and I chose ballet- dancing is not my forte.)

I've been behind taking photos and was missing my natural light window today, as you will see, and there's more but here's some fun stuff for now. Want to know more about something...just ask. :)
