I just got this desk, and I have no idea how old it is or its value. It has brass figures and strips on it. The vinear is coming off, and I was wondering if it'd be worth to get redone, and what its value may be as is? Thank you!

It is a modern reproduction of a French Louis XV desk. Some of these can be pricey but I can not tell the quality from the one pic. Also, condition is important.

I only paid $200 for it, was that a good deal?

    From the condition...looking a bit abused....I don't think so.........at least not for resale !

The casting looks very poor , $200 does seem a bit pricey but it really isnt exorbitant .

It depends how much you like it, whether you bought it for your own use or to resell. The damage is a concern for resale purposes.

Also it depends where you are located. Here in my rural area that would be a high price, and not something the rural folk would be inclined to look for.
If you are in an urban area where prices are high and it is the type of thing that is sought after, then it may have been a decent price.

If you were that concerned about overpaying you would have asked first. You obviously liked it as you were willing to pay $200. for it. Don't question yourself. Enjoy it.

Looks like it somehow got pretty banged up......unless you're really good at restoration!!!!!
