    It's London sterling, looks like. Is 1723 possible? I think that's what I'm seeing... someone who knows what they're doing should be along soon.

    London 18th C. You should be able to find the capital H date letter on 925.com

    What is the item.

    The most common item from that period is the open salt cellar.

    Looks like James Smith I (Which despite the name is still marked IS). 1720s date. Which would match the date-letter.

    Nice little George I cup that has escaped being clobbered by some Victorian silversmith. So many were fancied up in the 19th C.
