20.5" diameter, 13.5" high, metal nails & rings, rawhide? stitching, I would love to know what this was used for. Thank you in advance for your help! IMG_7698.jpeg copy.jpg IMG_7700.jpeg copy.jpg IMG_7705.jpg IMG_7703.jpeg copy.jpg IMG_7707.jpg IMG_7701.jpg

    Modern, probably South East Asia.

    Made to deceive, wood stained.

Jumble of bits of metal, nails, staples, rings etc.

Thanks, here in Palm Beach County at an estate sale. So I thought it was old but I see the reply that isn't, just made to look old. :(

Don't take my reply as gospel, it was just my opinion, I may be wrong.

There is just too much going on for a simple box.

if it was made to look old someone did a great job , even to the inside and outer wood brace ...

Here's a problem I can see: the interior is the same general color as the exterior. Ordinarily, the interior would never have been stained, and it would be lighter from no light shining on the wood. But it's not. It's been stained.

Wooden boxes are never the same color inside and out.
