Hi all, first-time poster here, but I hope to have some fun things to share with you as time goes on.

I have a beautiful platinum Art Deco ring with a maker's mark that I can't ID and thought someone on here might recognize. It's a stylized "S" with dots on either side. I'll attach a close-up of the mark as well as some glamour shots of the whole ring :).

Based on the metal, design, and cut of the diamonds I am placing it in the 1920s, but I am pretty new at this so if someone has a better idea of time period please let me know!

Something looks off for a ring made in the 20's.The photos are too bright and the reflective background does not help.

It is a "real" ring, but the above dating is questionable.

Yes, the center diamond looks to be a modern cut.

The stone actually looks like an old European cut diamond.

This may be the mark of N.M. Shepard & Co. Inc. of NYC. They were a quality jeweler at the time.

I thought the same company, Calico; however, the only mark I could find for them has "N", "M" and "co" worked into the curves of the "S." There is a good possibility they had other marks that I haven't had any luck finding.

Yup Susan, that's why I said 'may be'. It will be hard to nail down unless a similar mark can be found in an old ad or book. Beautiful ring.
