What does this thing say? Zodiac, or some language I can't recognize

I bought this because it's probably silver and has a nice old Lapis inlay. The center part looks like a Zodiac symbol, but it doesn't match any I can find. It doesn't look like Sanskrit either, always a potential culprit. It sure isn't Hebrew or even Nepalese. DSCF2028.JPG

No match. Close, but this is something else.

I'm not alltogether certain that that is Lapis.....:peeking::watching::beaver:

It's older and probably Central Asian. The older pieces don't have the pyrite inclusions. It might be a really high grade sodalite too.

Or Farsi, which may be more likely given that it's lapis.

Thanks Bear. I think part of is a "siin" or s in either Arabic or Farsi. That odd dangly bit off the right is curved the wrong way for another letter...?

Hmm, fancy Persian calligraphy I guess.

Probably somebody's initial. A "shin" in Hebrew is a symbol for light, and by extension enlightenment. It's the letter on the outside of a Mezuzah case. Since this is another Semitic language, I'm half wondering if it might be the same case here.
