What does this thing say? Zodiac, or some language I can't recognize

I bought this because it's probably silver and has a nice old Lapis inlay. The center part looks like a Zodiac symbol, but it doesn't match any I can find. It doesn't look like Sanskrit either, always a potential culprit. It sure isn't Hebrew or even Nepalese.

No match. Close, but this is something else.

 

I'm not alltogether certain that that is Lapis.....

 

It's older and probably Central Asian. The older pieces don't have the pyrite inclusions. It might be a really high grade sodalite too.

 

Arabic.

 

Or Farsi, which may be more likely given that it's lapis.

 

Thanks Bear. I think part of is a "siin" or s in either Arabic or Farsi. That odd dangly bit off the right is curved the wrong way for another letter...?

Whoops, sorry, late again. Yes, fancy calligraphy.

 

Probably somebody's initial. A "shin" in Hebrew is a symbol for light, and by extension enlightenment. It's the letter on the outside of a Mezuzah case. Since this is another Semitic language, I'm half wondering if it might be the same case here.
