There was a photo of a guy ready for battle at the Kentucky state house rally over the weekend wearing a Gucci buckle like yours.

I kind of went through the back door. I requested information on getting the finish repaired. Gucci is like Rolex in that they won't tell you anything unless they know it is one of their pieces. So the rep asked for some pictures of the front, back, and sides. He never said why but I knew he was making sure it wasn't a fake. He told me I could just polish it and they couldn't replace the clear coat. Which is merely to make it so you don't have to polish. And this is common with these vintage ones. That was good enough for me.

 

Just to clarify
you did use the acetone to remove the clear coat before polishing it?

 

Yes, Just on the front and sides of the GG. The rest still has good clear.

 

@916Bulldogs123 - I don't know Mike, I think it would make a real statement collar for Tonka. I think you should keep it.

I will give him extra biscuits when he gets back home. right now he is at the vet hospital. Came down with some kind of virus. He will be fine. Just a couple days in the hospital.
