Found this when I was clearing a house, it is probably of no importance or value, and probably not silver!! But would like to know more about it. From base to top it is the size of my middle finger.
    Markings are very worn.
    Thanks

Probably correct, but does this help? My son looked at markings this evening (younger eyes!) He saw AB star fish, serpent? and a face!

Any idea what it was used for or age?

It looks like it could be a quarter tankard.
The only certain way is to test it.

Buy a cheap silver acid tester.

Fluid ounce measurement in the UK are from the olden days :hilarious:

Besides a US fluid ounce is different to an imperial fluid ounce because it is based on the US gallon which is different to the imperial gallon.

A US fluid ounce is 1⁄16 of a US fluid pint and 1⁄128 of a US liquid gallon or approximately 29.57 ml, making it about 4% larger than the imperial fluid ounce.

I think I see AB&S with some worn marks above. Agree it looks like a christening cup.

Have found a tape measure, it is 3 inches tall and about 2 inches across the rim
