The whole bag was 2.99? Wow. You'd think with all the Scandinavians up your way, they'd know better!

'Gammal Fransk' pattern - Anders Wedin, Söderhamn.

    ~Cheryl

Additional info: Apparently not the most honest of smiths, Wedin was convicted in 1860 for inferior, unmarked, and falsely marked goods, fined and sentenced to 2-1/2 years...

Today was 50% off at that thrift store so I went back and spent $12 on the remainder of that pattern. They were in bags of six for $5.99 each. Half off that. I knew the rest were electroplate on nickel silver. wallberg 001.JPG wallberg 002.JPG
But these two didn't exactly match.

As some of you may know I collect coins and dabble a bit in currency. Since I don't have many antique new purchases to show off currently I'll post a coin.

Here is my latest purchase, a 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime (5 cent piece). Got it from a local coin shop.

cxgirl, OMG- I had a tall wooden lamp from I guess the 30s or 40s that had that exact lampshade. I got it from my old landlord....he didn't want it. One day I just got tired of it and sold it for $25 to an antique dealer. He actually asked me if I could do better. I laughed out loud- it had all the working light bulbs and was newly rewired, too. The D&E is gorgeous! Terry, nice find on the silverware!

My 90 year-old uncle is now in a wheelchair and I spent hours with the initial PT eval. All kinds of services will be forthcoming. I haven't been out much.

As far as the yard sales, it is still very cutthroat around here.

I did visit some antique malls and I did find my way to some flea markets on Sat. and Sun. (brought back lots of food for Unc). I got this at an antique mall for $12, less 10%. It was pretty cruddy, but cleaned up nicely. I thought it was glass (it is a Vargas hallmark, 10k GF), but the Presidium gem tester shows aquamarine. I took it outside and in the sunlight, it shows a prism, so I thought it was glass again. I researched aquamarines, and some show a rainbow prism. There is also a water test you can do to see if it is aquamarine- put a drop of water on the surface and if it beads up, pretty likely it is aquamarine (if it runs off, probably quartz.) I love my jewelry!

And hankies..... I bought one once for a dollar. Someone had hand-embroidered a little African-American girl on it sitting on a red suitcase.... sold it for $25. I love them, too!

DSCF1918.JPG Less of a find than a found. These beads popped up some time ago, and I restrung them only to realize I had one more bead and the restring didn't look right. So tonight... voila. I think the beads are Japanese lampwork. Some of the wedding cake decoration has popped off over the years, but they're still cool.

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

Tomorrow at 10:30 my chair goes in for finger printing at the RCMP, examiner also believes it is painted by Picasso (he examined it yesterday) and says he can possibly get 90% of the print on paper, because of the varnish .
