Featured Need some help on this Lily pin please.

This came in the same box lot as the cat pin I also have posted. I think it is an Acrylic with a silver colored metal frame.

It measures 1 3/8" by 1" & is not marked anywhere I could find.

OK, about the lovely pin, are you sure it is acrylic? Try the tooth tap test, I would expect it to be glass. Let us know!

 

My mistake. It is glass according to the tooth test.

 

I thought it would be carved lucite, but not with the results of your tooth test..

 

Well, I don't know, but the glass in the photos all looks somewhat "opalescent" in color around the edges of the artwork? Would this be from the age of the glass, or a special treatment of some sort?

I have seen artificially aged bottles, but I don't know how it's done?

You're right, it is pressed glass.

 

Peggy I had a brooch similar in construction as yours, here my post from 2018, has some great information about this type of brooch.
Even though you see them listed as Goofus glass, they aren't.
Cheryl identified mine as 'It's Bohemian/Czech, painted/enameled molded reverse intaglio set on a mother of pearl disc - should date to around the first quarter of the 20th century...

Mine is definitely an intaglio. Why I could not think of that word last night is beyond me. After all I have a good many intaglio cut perfume bottles.

If you look at the side view above you can tell it is a 3 dimensional image. Mine also has the MOP disc as the background.

@cxgirl - I am also going to check out the 2 books mentioned in your thread.

 

If it is anything but base metal, the mark is either very tiny or is under the frame.
