painting of Santo Nino de Atocha

    It's impossible to evaluate your painting from your photographs. It would be helpful if you posted well lit photographs of the front and back including frame. Are those staples I see on frame? And a sticker of some sort? Close-up photographs of both would be helpful.

    Oh, and would you share with us why you know its 1800 or earlier? I ask because these Spanish Colonial subjects are widely reproduced.

    it definitely was reframed or a framed put on but canvas spread wood is definitely old, looks like someone added staples to hold it together. the canvas itself is especially old.

    You know "very old" Spanish Colonial paintings are sold new in markets across Latin America? Better quality photographs would help.

    I would wonder if that canvas was genuinely old or artificially aged. The wear pattern is unusual.

    tried to add more photos, held up to light you can see fine spaces between woven canvas

    The wood "stretcher" does not look old it looks stained

    well I dont know, I'm gonna try to get someone to look at it to see, I dont know much. if i take it out of frame canvas is not gonna unravel or something right? want to look for signature of some sort

    so I took it out of frame and theirs square looking nails all the way around, and looks like it says something around corner at bottom of canvas but cannot read it

    Asking again... What does the sticker on back say? Would you post a (good quality) close-up photograph?

    sticker on frame just says west Corp custom picture framing, Portland oregon
