So we have had this for awhile at the gallery but we are just now pulling it out. I don't know anything about it. I have tried to find the artist but do no avail. Anyone got any ideas here? I believe the signature says "A. Casini" but I am not positive.

Well I will tell you it was in need of repair because it was falling out of the frame. :) I will have to get some pictures of the back I don't think I took any. My fix was merely adding some paper stints to tighten it back to the frame. I believe it has nails. I wasn't about to try and re-nail it. I don't believe there was anything on the back. It had paper but that got ripped when it fell out of the frame and most of it was missing. That happened before it came to us. I will get more pictures when I am out at the gallery. The frame has itself suffered some damage where it looks like it may have fallen off a wall. The frame has a couple of chips. Which is really a shame cause it is a pretty frame. The painting itself is stretched canvas. I am not sure what type of medium was used. I would guess oil but it may be something else. It has a slight sheen and is a bit 3 dimensional.

Frame is all wood? Plaster & Wood?

If you measure the inside back of the frame it will come out inches or centimeters.

Inches would be made here or the UK Centimeters designate the other side of the big pond. <UK exception>

I believe it just says casini. Not with the m. Mine does not have the m if I remember correctly.

I also have an original casini wood board painting that I purchased at goodwill about 5 years for 6 bucks. I love it but Im curious as to the history of the artist. Its a fruit bowl, wine bottle and tea pot. The back says orgento... As well as the prince's table.... Happy researching

I am seeing works attributed to Mario Casini but find no hard proof that this artist exists. I also find no paintings with full signature or gallery label with attribution with this first name. This looks suspiciously like factory work to me. The work bears some similarity to a Picasso and the style is very Chagall like.

    Picasso .....

The florals seem to be channeling Van Gogh .....

I guess my point is that the work appears to be derivative and one should not be so quick to jump on someone else's attribution without some proof. This guy may exist. It is just as likely that someone made an attribution at some point in time and everyone else copied it.
