Two different clays used. Body may be yixing, I've no idea of age or country of origin. It's 4ins high including lid, 4ins wide, 6 ins long including handle and spout. Any help please with sig on base too? thanks. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

In my opinion Chinese. I'd call it enamelled yixing teapot. Maybe early to mid 20th century?
    No idea of the mark.

The mark is -- or should be, if all the characters were there -- 生今之世 尚友古人 Sheng Jin Zhi Shi, Shang You Gu Ren.

Yes, khl the marks aren't very clear, there's a worse one at the bottom under the other characters that looks like 3 single ducks footprints. Thanks for your input, it seems many of these teapots are/were left unglazed, I haven't been able to find any quite like this one and am struggling to date it.

Just google 'enamelled yixing teapot' and you will find , if not identical, similar ones.
If you are planning to Ebay it, all you need are good photos and leave the rest to the Chinese buyers.
So, KHL, the inscription is not a maker/artist mark but some kind of Chinese proverb?

Thanks Kard. I missed out word enamelled and called it glaze so nothing much was coming up.
I can see some similar now, thanks again.

Usually glaze is either a clear or colored coating. The paints used for the images and the backgrounds are called enamels and they are also fired.
