    Wow! Neat chair!
Is it damaged on the side? I can't help but those who can may want more photos and some close ups.

Hi and welcome. I'm wondering if it's from India but someone else will probably know.

I agree more pics would help. I don't know if this carved reticulated hardwood chair is Burmese, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesia, etc. I can't make out the figures in the carvings well enough to identify. It certainly looks like the top of one arm has broken off.

Edit: By the time Inposted this message , I see you have uploaded more pics. I still can't ID origins.

My guess would be Indian too; it looks like Indian wood and Indian-style carving. Beyond that, they're still doing this type of carving. It has some age on it, but....

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

My "research"... a family member has a very similar chair and foot-rest. I had noticed and admired it - called them just now, and she reports that her first husband shipped it home from India while on sabbatical there in the 1960s. Just an anecdote. I like it a lot. It's one of those pieces that once seen, is remembered.

Wow! Cool! So detailed work, that more looks like it is termites were "eating out" this design into wood! :hilarious:

I'd be thinking India/Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
My parents did a lot of travelling, and kept souvenirs from everywhere they went.....I've found their collections very helpful in identifying items.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I still have a lot of their things.
