Evelyb, I have found with things like this (especially cookie jars too) wrap it good and stand it upright in a box it should do ok with shipping.

I've used refrigerated goods boxes for fragile items before, when I could still find them. That two inch foam insulator is a great protector. Put the bubble wrap and the like around the piece inside that, and it helps keep the gorilla and elephant package handlers away.
