That's how I ended up with the name in the first place; Mom's name got typoed on an old gasoline credit card. We knew for a decade when their mailing list had been rented or sold.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

There I was minding my own business, on the way home from a job, and I spy a "3 family estate sale", whatever that might be. It was big, and just opening, so I pulled over and looked around. I had no luck at all at the last few such outings, but I was just IN THE MOOD! I hurried around the whole thing quickly (to see if anything really jumped out at me), and I ran across this pretty little mirror for 55 dollars. Now I don't know exactly WHAT it is, but a few things about it made me figure it was well worth 55 bucks! I bought it.

There is a bit of silvering loss at the very bottom left, along with a nearby chip in the trim, which I will be able to camouflage or repair, I'm sure.

It's 28 inches tall, 14 at the widest.

Oh, man, I was so eager to show it that I didn't clean it!

Just now, I Googled my best guesses for descriptors... "1930 reverse etched applied gesso mirror" and some similar ones popped up alright!! I know a few styles that it's NOT, but... what IS it, please?

I first thought that too, evely ... especially since the first two I came across online when trying to ID it were called water droppers ... then I noticed that they were only about 3½" tall - when mine is double that size. Several hours later, I came across this blurb from the Shaanxi History Museum that only calls theirs, which is about the same size as mine, a "pot"
    http://e.sxhm.com/en_product_content.asp?id=54

and this upcoming auction that refers to a similar (but no doubt older) one as a tea pot

Really? I don't know for sure what it is or how old ... the glaze is super shiny and is full of teeny tiny bubbles which makes me think that it's some nicely made museum gift shop souvenir.

I think Cadogan is the word you need to find more of these pots and how they work, originally designed for wine.

Well I'll be darned <googling madly>... there they all are! :) Thank you yet again anund, for teaching me a new term. Wine seems safer to pour in that hole in the bottom than boiling water, too!

Seriously, the breadth of your knowledge never ceases to amaze me!

I second that, Ms Quirky... anundverkaufen is a total all-purpose all-around BRAINIAC.

It's not his wings that would burn if he ate too much curry. (King you're a baaad influence, not that I need much influencing.)
