Oak press back - Early 1900s.
Looks like the seat was replaced. The original was probably caned.

    Value on these have dropped.
Here in CA lucky to get $25-40.
Condition like glued spindles or loose legs brings price down.

25 years ago American Oak was very desirable.
Today those of us who bought it for our own use and decoration are downsizing and trying to sell it. Our kids don't want it. There isn't a buyer for it right now.

This was 25 years ago. I guess even back then they were overpriced however there was a market for oak chairs and round oak pedestal tables

As long as you've used and enjoyed the chairs over the last 25 years ...you got your moneys worth !:):):)

Downsizing and getting rid of excess furniture. I did get enjoyment from all of my special pieces

I have that round oak antique table and 4 press backs to which you refer in my kitchen. I still love it as much as the I day I got it....probably 25 years ago.......been here so long, I can't remember exactly just how long ago.

Wrote this yesterday but apparently got distracted and didn't post:

Can't see the whole thing but seems to be a turn of the century press-back dining chair. Not a lot of value for a single. I can pick them up at auction in good shape for around $5.00. At retail usually less than $40.00. Those are rural Midwest prices. Might be different elsewhere.

Do you have more than one? Values go up for sets. Even so, $100.00 per chair is a price you can not achieve these days.
