Is it a ring, a bracelet or a hoop?

Any larger than a ring and vegetable ivory is out.

Sorry, af, I should have mentioned that it's a bracelet, 3" across.

I think Lucite. Usually meant to be stackable. They were big in the 60s and then again in the 80s.

Thanks for the replies. Never would have guessed Lucite...maybe cause my head is stuck on how much it reminds me of vegetable ivory buttons.

Children....(sigh) It's probably acrylic or lucite; sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. It was probably sold as part of a stack of three or four either identical or in mixed colors.

OK, if your wrist is 3 inches how actually do you get it over your much bigger hand to wear it?

I could do it. It's for a smaller person, more or less.

3" x pi = circumference (opening through which a hand would have to go)

    3" x 3.14159265359 = 9.42477796077 inches

Too large an opening for me to wear as a bracelet on my wrist/lower arm -- it would be sliding down onto my hand all the time.

Three inches across on the inside? That's big. On the outside, I'd just have to fold my hand over a bit. I get into stuff that small all the time.

(It does look like an apple slice!)

Just thought I'd mention Lea Stein's work, sometimes called French celluloid (I think I remember?) - she did/does some very minimalist jewelry like this. Not saying it is her work, just something that gets by sorters at thrifts and estate sales, so I keep my eyes peeled for it :)

but also many other way artsy pieces...

and these serigraphs - the most collectible (?)

Those bracelets almost look like "detroit agate". That's something else the sorters sometimes miss. It's jewelry made from the paint build-up on car manufacturing assembly lines. Or it used to be; different modern painting techniques mean they aren't making any more. That paint can go for quite a bit, even the unworked form.
