I just purchased this settee from a woman who had this in her family for a long time but she didn't know anything about its history. I can't find any info about it. I'm just curious as to the age, who may have built it, where it may have been built and value. It has large coiled springs in the cushions and it "crunches" when sat upon, they recently had it reupholstered. Some people think it's a little creepy but I think it's cool!

I love it, although the corners of some of the parts are a bit too sharp / "squared" for my personal taste.

    Maybe it's chippendale?

    I'm not an expert.

Circa 1880 Victorian mahogany. Usually you would see these with lions or griffins so the human heads are a bit unusual. You sometimes see Egyptian heads but they are different than these. Probably a take on classical motifs .... Greek or Roman. I imagine this is American but suppose it could be English or Continental.

The photo of the head is very close. Could you take a photo of the side with a more normal view? I'm wondering if the heads were a later addition. It's obviously been heavily refinished. Perhaps the original side pieces were gone. The heads seem out of proportion but it may just be the camera angle.
