There were felt pieces on the bottom but still I don't find any significant wear. That depression is too smooth.
Also, there is grits on some areas, what from?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Is it possible to be Murano with such base?

I would be surprised if it was from Italy, I'd more likely guess Asia as an area of origin

Boy, I've looked at alot of glass pears and fruit since you posted this Kardi. Searched scavo, frosted, iridescent, cased, etc. Everything I find, from Murano to Rossi Niagara Glass and all studio art glass, they all do the leaves differently. This is a stumper.

I did search a lot too but found nothing closer.
As to being made in China, any reasons for that?

In general, pieces from Murano will have a polished base, while pieces from Asia will have a satin/unpolished base

Yup. It also simply doesn't have any great quality to it.

Are those the only possibilities? China or Murano?

Well, I would think studio glass is a possibility.

How big is this? It looks HUGE, as compared to your hand in these two pics:

Is it an optical illusion, or is it truly as huge as it looks?

Not that big, about 8 1/2" tall.

That is gigantic, as compared to a real pear! Is it solid and heavy, not hollow?
If so, it's probably a bookend.

    Not solid. Relatively heavy.

Asia, China specifically is the most likely, there is some nice looking stuff that comes from China these days, just not quite as refined yet as what most Italian makers produce. Italy, Murano possible but much less likely IMHO. Studio work is the least likely, especially since it is not signed. Anywhere is possible as a maker, but those China is at the top of the list in my opinion.

Speaking of bases I don't know if it was clear prom the photos how this one looks like.
