Featured ? tooth pic case

    Wasn't sure where to put this. I think it is a tooth pic case but am wondering about the material and an approx.. date. The wire and top piece tested as gold. IMG_1866.JPG IMG_1867.JPG IMG_1868.JPG IMG_1869.JPG

    Looks like pressed horn to me, would guess late Georgian or thereabouts...

    !! about 2 and a bit inches. Yes!!!horn..just couldn't think of the word, brain a little tired . thank you. Do you have a suggestion for glue to reattach the connecter part?
    Unfortunately a small bit is missing.

    Clean the hinge, and the box, and then use two-part epoxy glue to stick it back together. Originally, it would've been riveted, but then I dunno if you could do that without breaking the box.

    a doubler of soft aluminium inside and aluminium rivets.

    silly question ..where would I get such tiny rivets...one is still there

    aviation. they may have a cut-off of an aluminium sheet for free, too.
    we had small ones on the ailerons etc.. you can clamp them easily with small pliers, NO HAMMER NEEDED.

    The shape is called navette after its resemblance to a weaving shuttle.
