this morning's finds (pictures are NOT good ... not capturing the detail of both pieces - battery in camera needs charging)

pretty little purse - I'm now trying to make out the hallmarks under the clasp and sweet sterling and tortoise shell hair comb in need of a polish (can shell get wet?)

I'd use a "sunshine cloth" or other polishing cloth, just in case. If it's small enough, I'd use my fingers and a good bit of soap....for cleaning the gunk off my fingers. Old tortoise or celluloid can get a little cranky. Fingers are the best thing for cleaning small bits of silver. Use it like a worry stone for a few days and the dark uck comes right off. Right onto your fingers that is.

I found a turtle, she even has a name Caroline. Was I ever surprised when I turned her over.
