Old cast metal Picture frame Help.

Can anyone tell me the age of this small easel back frame.
6" tall x 3" wide. opening is 1 3/4" x 3"
Marked on the back VIP C?

I suspect it is a modernish cast spelter reproduction of a late 19th C style.
