I found this amazing item in Mom's attic. This poster is from the 1920 election, when Cox and Roosevelt ran against, and lost to Harding and Coolidge. It measures about 13" x 10" x .5" in the frame. I am at a loss as to what I should charge for it, as I haven't been able to find the exact poster anywhere. I'm not sure whether it's because ours is so unusual, or of it's because it's worthless (though I suspect it's the former. The closest I've found has the same design. but with a sepia background and b&w portraits. The frame on ours is not great, but good enough to keep the poster clean and undamaged. If I were going to display it, I would probably get it reframed. Has anyone seen this poster elsewhere, or would you have any idea where I could research to find the information I need? Great poster! I found what appears to be an identical poster, but not sure of the color of the background. Thanks, Susan. Those do appear to be the same colors. I'm not sure if they came in different sizes or not. I wonder if I should try writing to Getty Images to see if they can give me more info about the poster.
As far as I know jugates in pinbacks are worth more than those person's pins separately but I don't know in regard to this. It is quite a find methinks and maybe a something for a known political auction.
Thanks, KingOfThings! Have to see if I can find an auction house that will accept just one item, or even better, the framed artwork and signed prints that belonged to my folks. The last organization I talked with tried to bully me into letting them auction the entire estate, and it made me angry and discouraged. I can fully understand why people throw up their hands and just give stuff away.
Here is a fairly recent auction listing. Hakes is one of the leading auction houses for political Americana. They might be willing to advise you. https://www.hakes.com/Auction/ItemDetail/96955/GRAPHIC-1920-COX-AND-ROOSEVELT-JUGATE-POSTER Condition is very important for these type of items.
