Covered Glass Bowl - need info.

This was in a box of old bottles I bought and I have no idea about it. There are no makers marks, this was molded not cut per the molding lines on the glass, top fits onto the bottom by the glass "teeth".
5 1/2" diameter and 2 1/2" tall (not counting the handle) Did have a rusted wire handle on top but I replaced it with an old wooden drawer pull. Probably not too old but any info will definitely be appreciated...........

 

I'll be darn - that is the exact handle that was on it too - but it was horribly rusted

 

That handle isn't too bad as the one on mine was a POS - so rusted it didn't even have the balls left on the ends. (I hate when that happens! LOL!)

 

Did you keep it .. maybe it could be cleaned up ? It would look a great deal better than that drawer pull ... Joy.

No, I'm not. It takes me a while to type as my eyes are fading. I just thought that the original could be restored .. the drawer pull is okay, it's just that it LOOKS like a large drawer pull on a very pretty piece of glass ... Joy.

 

I was just thinking that, even if a NOS handle, it still would look out of place on that glass bowl. I'm not sure what would look "right" on that.

 

What do you think about something like this? It is actually a lamp finial but????????? Like a brass flower (rose) bud..........

 

AND it would have to be sturdy enough to take the weight of that lid. The drawer pull is fine .. ignore me, I'm just an old fuss bag that knows NOTHING about the subject ... .. Joy.

 

That would look better if it could be firmly attached ..

LOL I kept looking at it thinking it looked like two ashtrays that someone drilled for a "handle"

 

My Mom smoked in the house in the 60's and seeing I grew up used to the smell I never noticed. I don't smoke much and today when I whent grocery shopping today Damn could you smell the people that smoked! It was infused in their clothes. I don't mind smokers but never in my house! I even smoke a few cigs a week but outdoors all the time!
