Featured Bedroom Set Info needed

Hello . I would appreciate any information regarding an antique bedroom set I inherited. It has a double bed and 2 marble top dressers with mirrors. Thank you!

At least the whole of an item. Standing height would show the tops better. It helps a lot if there is enough light. It also helps if you use the full image option when posting.

 

Not that much of a furniture person here, but I do remember that the way in which the side rails attach to the head and foot boards can also be quite telling as to age.

I am curious about what the "inside" dimensions are (in other words, how wide and long would the mattress be)????

Thank you for your reply regarding the "double" size mattress. I had seen your reference to a "double mattress" before . . . but it just looked to me that it might take a slightly less wide "double" mattress than double mattresses over the last 50 or 60 or 70 years.

Counting the rectangles on the flooring under the bed and trying to gauge their individual size did not help me at all in trying to determine the width of the mattress support system since I didn't know the size of the floor squares.

As I said before, I find the bed quite attractive.

 

Now that is one substantial piece of furniture!

Have you had it apart to move it? I take it from your closeups that there is a piece of wood in each corner that, when screwed in, performs some function to hold the side rail in place?

 

No change in assessment. Circa 1880 walnut with aesthetic influence. You mention a set. Are there other matching pieces?

 

Thank you for all your comments. The headboard is 64 1/2 inches tall. The footboard is 42 inches tall. The inner dimensions are 55 1/2 inches wide by 76 inches long. Yes, there are 2 matching dressers with marble tops and mirrors. Currently they are being repaired and cleaned. The marble tops are also being repaired as they were both cracked. I believe it is the original marble. As soon as the 2 dressers are put back together I will photograph them. Can anyone explain the significance of the number 370 1/2 with the initial? All the pieces are marked with that. Yes, the bed was taken apart when it was shipped to us. I believe the rails had metal pieces that hooked into the footboard. Again, thank you.
