As the title states, I'm hoping to find a little help identifying this lamp. According to my Grandmother, these lamps were purchased about 50 years ago (not quite "antique" I know) from a furniture store in Western Kansas. There is a small rectangular label on the back of the base and on it is the copyright symbol followed by 'Artco' with no other identifiers anywhere on the lamp. These lamps are large and probably weigh 40-50 lbs a piece. They have red velvet shades but I don't know much more than that. Any help identifying them would tremendously appreciated.

Plaster? In a pseudo-French style but probably American made. That red shade screams 70s.

I was thinking plaster as well (the extreme weight would fit) and early 70's was my guess too, which fits with the date the OP thought they were purchased.

I think any value is less in the maker and more in the over-the-top look of the pair, like something you'd find in Liberace's house. They are a bit "Hollywood Regency" aren't they? But I think that style is getting to be a hard sell these days.

I'm sure they are a sight to behold when lit up with those red shades!

Almost certain that they are plaster and my guess is that my 98-year old Grandmother is a bit off in her recollection as to when these lamps were purchased. 70's sounds about right. Thanks for the responses!

Not too far off in her estimate, "about 50 years" is dead on. In 4 years it will be 50 years since 1970! (Hard to believe but true.)
