    Always good to know that my memory isn't completely shot - the salt is shown in Jzyk & Robertson's Open Salt Compendium (2002), page 131, plate 378, described as, "Silver ribbed salt with applied insects on the sides, set on leaf base, maker unknown, early 1900s, scarce, $100-125".

    Might also mention that I have a late 19th-early 20th century Japanese spoon with a similar little applied butterfly on the stem...

    Eh, these are truly awful quick cell phone shots, been intending to get some really good pics, because the maker's/retailer's mark is obscured by the decoration and I'd like to see if it can be IDed. It's a heavy piece, very nicely done dragon's head in the bowl, the butterfly on the stem is a side-view, in addition to the obscured mark, also stamped "TOKIO", along with the 'jungin' silver mark...
