    I need inspiration please!
Just before I take these apart to wash and restring- how old do you think these (Czech?)beads are and what type of clasp would be in keeping? Original clasp is sadly missing so I need to choose a replacement from my stash.
Would you go with this pattern or replace the clear glass beads with something else?.
    Thanks for looking :)

Not sure what your intention is. Wear? Resell? IMHO, it's always best to leave things as close to original as possible. Do they need restringing? And depending on length, they may not even have had a clasp.

From the look of the spacers, methinks it's been restrung once already. I'd restring, taking those foiled beads out and put an old spring ring or sport ring on them.

They are on a ratty piece of frayed string and would be too short without a clasp.
I rescue old necklaces and restring them, the nice old beads like this I keep but I usually try to reuse the original clasp if it's in good order.
The little spacer beads are clear not foiled it's just the light and the general filth!
    What is a sport ring?.

It's a spring ring clasp without the little whatsit sticking out. They were dead common in the earlier part of the 1930s.

Are these a short double strand?
I think I would restring as one long necklace. In which case you might not need a clasp.

No,they are one single strand and just not quite long enough.

Yes, Someone on the Facebook jewellery restoration page suggested they might be Uranium so I checked them. They have given me lots of ideas for cleaning them. It's slightly addictive as as soon as I'd discovered that they reacted I showed OH who couldn't give a toss about Jewellery and he was fascinated. We weren't both in the closet at once, there isn't room for that ;).
He's also interested in the Perspex windshield brooch on my other post so there is hope for him yet!
When we should have been in bed we were checking beads with a UV light!

    Hi,
I walked around my house when it was pitch dark with a uv light. Found several things I never knew glowed in the dark.

Yes, Czech/Bohemian, c. 1950s. Happy to hear "uranium." Means depleted uranium oxide. Can't absorb, though am sure you already know that. I even have some in my kitchen countertop!
