"the guy that owns it wasn't interested in doing that".....and neither should you!

When you have a Foundation ...fine......till then don't be cavalier about where your profit needs to go !!
In the future you can hold a charity auction for any cause that you find worthy....but for the present.......you need to build your business !

    IMO......

I mean, you're right. I know you are. I just figured some good publicity couldn't hurt. Believe me I am not on the look out to give money away but I was thinking of it as more of an investment. I figured if part of the funds were going to a good cause it might get us some decent PR and bring in a larger crowd. Not so much because I am a bleeding heart. (Which I am) I hadn't officially decided on that. I haven't even seen the bike in person yet. It was more of just a thought. You're right though.

You may want to think about picking a date after which you will accept the consignment, but it will be held until the next auction. JMHO :happy:

How many items can you sell in an hours time? In my experience people tend to start to lose interest after a few hours.

I do like how you have mixed up the different items. I hate auctions that sell too much furniture or too many smalls or too much of the same thing in a row.

BTW - If you ever get any perfume bottles in, please give me a heads up. :D:D:D

Your site looks very nice. I like the overall set up.

However, you have been around us long enough to know - we want to see a picture of the whole item, bottoms and close ups of marks. I found some of the picture sequences frustrating because I couldn't see those things.

Normally we expect consignments to be in by the 10th of the month to make the end of month auction. However this bike is a special deal. It just finished a showcase here in Austin and until it sells the owner will keep showing it in different cities. I swear I am not making this stuff up. LOL! It sounds crazy to me saying it. This is a one time deal if it doesn't sell it will be moving on to the next town. I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for perfume bottles for ya.:)

LOL! I know. It truly isn't ready to be viewed yet. I am working as I type. The catalog isn't exactly ready yet. When I upload things they tend get all crazy and out of sequence. They will also periodically disappear for periods during the catalog editing too. Unfortunately, it takes several uploads before it is actually a finished product. LOL! I hear you though. I think when I am done you will be find it easier to see everything. I know it looks a little Kooky right now. Believe me it is killing me as I set here waiting for the latest upload to complete so I can go put everything right. LOL!

I won't speak badly about the software cause it is the best there is available. Dealing with thousands of misplaced, upside down, and missing pictures, is not my favorite thing but it will all come together soon.

One day I am going to hire people to do this stuff. LOL! So I can sleep. LOL! One day.

An item, that doesn't sell and gets moved from auction to auction ....no matter what it is ....is sometimes considered as ' burned ' .....and will not sell until a price is low enough , or someone who lives in a cave sees it...

Good find, Sue! Whenever I see a windmill, Barbour comes to mind though think there are at least one other company that employed a windmill in its mark. Nowww I have to rethink taking Barbour for granted on seeing a windmill. Will have to concentrate on pipes. Barbour has a pipe on each side of the windmill.

Here's a pic of Hartford's Sterling Co. windmill online:

BTW, for interested silver lurkers info, there were at least 4 silver companies with Hartford as their name:

    Hartford Holloware Co.
    Hartford Manufacturing Co
Hartford Silver Plate Co. in 1893 absorbed by Barbour eventually joining International Silver.
    Hartford Sterling Co.

Sorry, didn't realize the site wasn't quite finished.
Just thought you would like to know so you can improve.

Things look like they are coming together nicely. It will take time to work the kinks out.
When we open a new B&M, it is usually expected to take a year before things are running smoothly. So would think the same applies to your business.

We're all wishing you the best if luck.

No really thank you so much. Lord know's I could use all the help and advice I can get. Funny think is this auction seems to be ticking right along. People are bidding before I have even sent out emails and announced the catalog. I guess starting stuff stupid cheap works. LOL!

I am still a little miffed. We sold that gun last month but the guys CC was declined. He was in California and then we started getting the run around. Needless to say 2 weeks later passed and he never paid for it. Very frustrating but at least we still have it. That is the first time someone has bid on something and then not paid. I kind of don't get it. Why would you bid on something you have no intention to buy? I have never had people put down deposits to bid because I had never had people not pay but I think we may have to for people who are bidding above a certain amount. Just so we don't end up wasting time chasing them down. He got him self put on a very short list of no no bidders. I would love to see him register and try to bid on it again. LOL! He would get a big ugly registration declined. The thing was he kept say oh yeah I am driving I will call you back in just a bit with a new card. Of course he would never call back and then he would have another excuse. I mean come on guy if you can't buy it just say so. Don't give us the run around. Geeze.
